Windsky.fyi is a privacy-first weather website. Our job is to show you the weather — not to show you ads, track you, or collect your personal information. This policy explains, in plain language, how that works.

What we don't do

  • We don't run ads or ad trackers.
  • We don't use analytics that identify you.
  • We don't build tracking profiles or browsing histories.
  • We don't sell or share your data with anyone.

Your IP address

When you visit Windsky.fyi, we use your IP address to convert it to an approximate location (latitude/longitude) so we can show you local weather right away. The IP address is discarded immediately after this lookup. We don't write it to storage, logs, or databases.

Browser location

If you grant location access in your browser, we use those coordinates for fetching your local forecast from our weather API. The coordinates are used for that request and discarded immediately. We don't store them on our servers.

You can use Windsky.fyi without granting location access — just search for a place manually.

Weather data provider

To fetch a forecast, we send the coordinates of the requested location (not your identity) to our Weather API. No other information about you is included in that request.

Accounts

You don't need an account to use Windsky.fyi. If you choose to create one, we use it for saving your preferences — your list of saved locations and your unit settings (°C/°F, wind speed, etc.). That's the only data associated with your account, and it's stored only so we can show it back to you.

Cookies and local storage

We don't use tracking cookies. Without an account, your preferences (like units or a saved location) are stored locally in your browser and don't reach our servers. With an account, those preferences are stored on our servers so they follow you across devices.

How we make money

Windsky.fyi is powered by our own weather APIs, which we sell to businesses. The website is a showcase of what those APIs can do.
